Western Larch

Larix occidentalis
Janka | 830
Northeast Oregon

Western Larch is Oregon’s only deciduous conifer. In the fall, the needles turn a wonderful bright yellow before dropping. Larch grows at higher elevations in the northeastern corner of Oregon. A healthy larch stand depends on periodic fire to maintain its vigor.
