Oregon Ash
Fraxinus latifolia
Janka | 1160
River banks and swamps of the Willamette Valley
The only Ash native to Oregon grows where no other tree will grow: in saturated clay soils along riverbanks and swamps. It provides shade for critical riparian habitat.
This tree is severely threatened by the Emerald Ash Borer, and finding ways to utilize the wood from infested trees is critically important.
